Choosing The University of Tampa

When choosing The University of Tampa, it was an easy decision for me. Although at first I was not sure if I wanted to become a Physician’s Assistant or be in the business school, I knew both were great areas of study at UTampa.

With UTampa’s accreditations, location, and business opportunities in the city, I knew this was the place to be! With my time at UTampa coming to a close, I am grateful for all the opportunities this school has given me.

The Sykes College of Business at The University of Tampa is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for both undergraduate and graduate studies. The AACSB is the highest accreditation a business school can receive.

The Sykes College of Business full-time MBA program at The University of Tampa has been named one of the best by Bloomberg Businessweek in 2021-2022. UTampa’s ranking was at 81 in 2020 and went to 74 for the 2021-2022 year ranking.

The University of Tampa was ranked one of the best universities for undergraduate education. This ranking is based on surveys of 143,000 students nationwide. The University of Tampa was also featured in Princeton Review’s “2021 Best Colleges: Region by Region.”

Digital Marketing

Through my Bachelor’s of Marketing, digital marketing has given me great digital marketing and social media experience for the real world. I have learned the importance of utilizing and understanding search engine optimization, inbound and outbound marketing, email marketing, social media, and more. Working with WordPress to create this website and obtaining 7 certifications has expanded my knowledge on the digital side of marketing as well.

Business Intelligence and Analytics

Through my Minor in Business Analytics, business intelligence and analytics taught me the importance of business’s data and how to understand and utilize it. By using industry specific programs like RStudio, I can manage and find data at my fingertips. Having the ability to sort and organize data can keep online information neatly filed in online databases or files. Understanding how a company’s data works is key to maintaining many aspects within a company and keeping a company afloat.

Media and Society

Although this course is not required for my Bachelor’s of Marketing degree, learning about the ins and outs of social media gave me insight on how businesses utilize social media. The media heavily impacts people and businesses alike and being able to understand how to convey information properly on the internet makes a big impact. With Media and Society, the different social media platforms were discussed and compared to one another, allowing a complete analysis on the pros, cons, and more on these different platforms.

Involvement at UTampa

Intramural Volleyball

While attending UTampa, I had the pleasure of joining an intramural volleyball team! Although this is not class-related, this taught me the importance of being a part of different communities and teamwork. Through intramural volleyball, I met knew people and made connections that will last a lifetime. Not only was I able to continue playing the sport I love, but I was taught essential skills that can benefit me in the classroom and in the workforce.
